Josh Blue joins Marc Maron, Jay Pharoah and the Funny Women of a Certain Age Show, as headliners at 2025 the Traverse City Comedy Fest. Blue will open the festival at the City Opera House at 7:00pm on Thursday, April 10 (doors open at 6:00pm).

After his groundbreaking win on Last Comic Standing in 2006, Josh Blue has risen through the ranks to become a well-established headliner at venues throughout the world. In 2018, Josh crushed his set on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. In the same year, he was honored with a performance at the William H. Macy Gala at the prestigious Just for Laughs Comedy Festival in Montreal, Canada. He wrapped up 2018 by recording his fifth hour special, Broccoli, at his home club, Comedy Works in Denver, CO. In 2021, following his 3rd place finish on NBC’s America’s Got Talent, Josh Blue hit the road with his As NOT Seen on TV Tour.

Josh does over 200 shows a year, continuing to spread laughter and break down stereotypes of people with disabilities. His stand-up routine is in a constant state of evolution and his off-the-cuff improvisational skills guarantee that no two shows are alike. Josh represented the United States in 8 countries as a member of the US Paralympic Soccer Team. Josh and his team were thoroughly disgraced in the 2004 Paralympic Games in Athens, Greece by not scoring a single goal. He is a single father living in Denver, CO with his son and daughter.

Tickets for Josh Blue’s Traverse City Comedy Fest appearance will go on sale Friday, November 22 at 10am at TraverseCityComedyFest.com. Tickets range between $40-$55. Tickets are also on sale now for Marc Maron’s two festival headlining performances and for the Funny Women of a Certain Age Show, all scheduled to take place on Saturday, April 12, as well as Jay Pharoah’s performance on Friday, April 11. More festival headliners and programming will be announced in the coming weeks, with additional ticket sales to follow.

The 2025 Traverse City Comedy Fest will take place April 10-12, 2025 in eight venues across Traverse City, including the Traverse City Comedy Club, City Opera House, Old Town Playhouse, Encore 201, The Workshop Brewing Company, The Alluvion, Hotel Indigo, and Park Place Hotel. Traverse City Tourism is the presenting sponsor for the festival.

What began as a way to work with her friends has exploded on the comedy scene. When Carole (a veteran of the stand-up scene for over 40 years) started, you would never see two female comics on the same show. Fast forward to today’s comedy scene and nothing has changed, even though there are way more women in comedy. Funny Women or WOACA was created to give older women comics a chance to be seen and heard. Frustrated with how women are portrayed on television once they hit 50, Carole decided to do something about it. She’s fighting ageism AND sexism one joke at a time. The women who appear in WOACA are all funny, vibrant, and brilliant, they just happen to be of a certain age. These women paved the way for the female comics you see today.

The first TV special for the Showtime Network featured Fran Drescher, Carole Montgomery, Luenell, Lynne Koplitz, Vanessa Hollingshead, and Kerri Louise. The special premiered March 23rd, 2019 and it made TV history as the first comedy special to feature 6 women over the age of 50.

In fact, the special was the network’s highest-rated premiere of a stand-up show for 2019! The second Showtime special More Funny Women Of A Certain Age premiered in March 2020 to huge viewership and the third special premiered in November 2021. All three specials prove that indeed #funnynevergetsold

The Traverse City Comedy Fest is returning in 2025 with new spring dates and one of the biggest names in comedy – Marc Maron – set to headline the festival weekend. The festival will take place April 10-12, 2025 in eight venues across Traverse City, including the Traverse City Comedy Club, City Opera House, Old Town Playhouse, Encore 201, The Workshop Brewing Company, The Alluvion, Hotel Indigo, and Park Place Hotel. Traverse City Tourism is the presenting sponsor for the festival.

Marc Maron will perform two shows at the festival on Saturday, April 12 at 6pm and 8:30pm at the City Opera House. Maron has released five hit stand-up comedy specials throughout his career. His most recent, “FROM BLEAK TO DARK” premiered on HBO February 11, 2023 and received rave reviews from critics and fans alike. Maron’s other specials include “END TIMES FUN” (2020) on Netflix, which was nominated for a 2021 Critics’ Choice Award, “MARC MARON: TOO REAL”(2017), MORE LATER” (2015) on Epix, and “THINKY PAIN” (2013).

Maron has an incredible reputation in the podcasting world through his landmark podcast “WTF with Marc Maron”. Launched in 2009, this interview-style podcast receives over 100 million listeners every year and has become a phenomenon in the podcasting space, with over 1400 episodes to date. Over the years, Marc has interviewed icons such as Keith Richards, Kate Winslet, and Robin Williams. Earlier this year, Maron’s show became the first one-on-one podcast episode (Episode 67- Robin Williams) inducted into America’s National Recording Registry.

Maron starred in the Netflix series “GLOW” and his scripted series, “MARON”, aired for four seasons on IFC. This past year, Maron also starred in the critically acclaimed feature film, TO LESLIE, starring Andrea Riseborough and Allison Janney. Some of Maron’s other acting credits include his roles in JOKER, RESPECT, the 2021 Aretha Franklin biopic which he starred in alongside Jennifer Hudson, SPENSER CONFIDENTIAL, SWORD OF TRUST, STARDUST. He also portrayed “Mr. Snake” in the Dreamworks animated feature, THE BAD GUYS, alongside Sam Rockwell, which premiered at #1 at the box office and “Lex Luthor” in DC LEAGUE OF SUPER-PETS, which released in July 2022, also at #1, alongside Dwayne Johnson, Keanu Reeves, and Kevin Hart.

Tickets for both of Maron’s Traverse City headlining shows will go on sale to the public on Friday, October 18 at 10am at TraverseCityComedyFest.com.Reserved tickets are $65-$85, with a limited number of VIP tickets available for $125. Tickets will be available only for Maron’s shows and no other Traverse City Comedy Fest events during this initial sales event.

The 2025 Traverse City Comedy Fest will feature dozens of other shows and events featuring acclaimed comedians from across Michigan and the U.S during the three-day festival. More headliners and programming will be announced in the coming weeks, with additional ticket sales to follow. In addition to new dates, the 2025 Traverse City Comedy Fest is transitioning to new leadership, with SamRose Entertainment assuming sole production of the event. Though no longer involved in the event’s production, the Downtown Traverse City Association remains a proud supporter of the Traverse City Comedy Fest.
