SamRose Entertainment, Michigan’s leading comedy producer, is excited to announce the launch of the SamRose Comedy Club on December 19! Headlining the opening is international comedy star Dean Edwards, known for his work on “Saturday Night Live” and recent appearances in Netflix’s “Tiffany Haddish Presents: THEY READY.” Joining him are Michigan comedians Tonya Murray and Mike Geeter.
Dean Edwards is a seasoned stand-up comedian with over 30 years of experience, recognized for his celebrity impressions and roles in films like “Top Five” and “Spider-Man 3.” He has performed globally, including at the Dubai Comedy Festival, and co-produced the Off-Broadway play “RACE: THE MOVIE: THE PLAY.”
Metro Detroit’s Tonya Murray started her comedy journey young and has opened for national headliners like Dave Attell and Chris Porter. Her humor reflects her experiences as a single woman navigating modern dating, showcasing her sharp wit and unique perspective.
Pontiac, MI’s Mike Geeter brings insightful humor about family and relationships. With a background of 17 siblings, he has shared the stage with notable comedians and has been featured on platforms like Fox and SiriusXM. His comedy CD, “The Charm Offensive,” is available digitally.

Going into our third year, we’ve hosted dozens of National and Michigan comedians and entertained thousands of comedy fans across some of Traverse City’s best venues to generate millions of laughs, making the Traverse City Comedy Fest one of the best comedy festivals in the country and northern Michigan as a premiere comedy destination!
We pride ourselves on producing shows for everyone and for every price point. From comedy shows from clean to dirty, to some of the best improv in the country, not to mention roast battles, comedy rumbles, and even something for murder mystery fans, we’ve got it all for you at the Traverse City Comedy Fest!

With over 30 years as a stand-up comedian, Dean Edwards is one of the most sought-after comedians touring both domestically and internationally. Most notably recognized for his two-year tenure as a cast member of NBC’s Saturday Night Live, Edwards is best known for his multitude of remarkable celebrity impressions that include Denzel Washington, Dave Chappelle, Jay-Z, Mo’Nique, Chris Rock, 50 Cent, and Eddie Murphy. Recently, Dean showcased his amazing talent in his first comedy special, NETFLIX’s Tiffany Haddish Presents: THEY READY, which is currently airing on Netflix.
Dean blends his quick wit with observational humor. His approach is conversational while always ensuring that his material is relatable and well-received. He has had success performing for The NFL and MLB as well as a recent two-month/24 base tour with the US Air Force.Dean also starred in and co-produced the award-winning, Off-Broadway hit, RACE: THE MOVIE: THE PLAY, which premiered at the New York Theatre Festival and recently completed a sold-out run at the Soho Playhouse. The play is preparing for a larger run in 2025. Also, he is working on a scripted project with Tiffany Haddish’s, She Ready Productions.

Ann Duke: Ann is a favorite of “women of a certain age” who can relate to the trials and tribulations of being single and navigating middle age. Her observations on generational differences and relationships are clever and poignant. For younger audiences, she’s your mom’s sassy, sexy best friend. She has performed at comedy shows and festivals across the region and has appeared with national headliners Tom Papa, Vic Dibitetto, Eric D’Alessandro, Nathan Timmell, Lynne Koplitz to name a few. She is a member of a branded show called Eyes Up Here which features five of Michigan’s top female comics. She appeared as a speaker at TedxDetroit in 2023 and recently toured with Showtime’s Funny Women of a Certain Age.
Mike Geeter: Mike is a unique comedian who hails from Pontiac, MI. His humor is an insightful take on current events, family, and relationships. Growing up in a family with 17 siblings and being a father himself, Mike’s comedy is a blend of sharp wit and smooth delivery. He has performed at some of the most prestigious comedy venues and has had the opportunity to work with Kevin Hart, Tom Papa, Hannibal Burress, Natasha Leggero, Jim Norton, and Rickey Smiley, among others. Mike has been featured on Fox Television and Hulu’s comedy showcase “Laughs,” and on the Detroit episode of “Kevin Hart Presents: Hart of The City 2” on Comedy Central. Additionally, he delivered a TEDTalk in October 2022 and can now be heard on SiriusXM on Kevin Hart’s LOL Radio. His first full-length comedy CD, “The Charm Offensive,” is available on all digital platforms.
Melanie Hearn: Melanie is a native of Detroit and is known for her unique voice in stand-up comedy. Her unabashed style and infectious energy always leave audiences and fans wanting more. She began her career in Detroit and quickly became a favorite at Mark Ridley’s Comedy Castle. Since then, she has performed with well-known comedians such as Maria Bamford, Mark Curry, and Preacher Lawson. She is a comedian who is widely regarded as one of the most unique voices in stand-up comedy today. She began her career as a comedian in the city and quickly became a local favorite. Her personality, energy, and unabashed style have endeared her to audiences and fans alike, and she has earned a reputation as one of the most exciting comedians in the business.
Richard Mathis: Born and raised in Battle Creek, Michigan, Richard started doing stand-up comedy in Indianapolis at Crackers Comedy Club. His style is a blend of old-school setups and punchlines with an urban twist, which he’s honed over the years. Mathis won the Detroit to LA competition, the Dimented Peach competition, and the Detroit Comedy Rumble, which have been important milestones in his comedy career. These achievements have helped Richard develop his unique voice and connect with audiences in a meaningful way. Richard is passionate about bringing laughter to people from all walks of life and looks forward to sharing his comedic talents.
Alexa Stanton: Alexa Stanton grew up in a small, rural Michigan village where her fondness for corn and milk flourished. She began comedy in the Amazon capital of the world, Seattle, WA. After facing much ridicule for her name, Stanton returned to Michigan in 2022. Alexa and her short butt crack continue to travel the States looking to tell tales of her outlandish life to fresh faces. You can find her viral hit series Barefoot and Pregnant on YouTube and her podcast The Budcast on all platforms.

KelloggArena.com. General admission tickets are $23 and VIP tickets are $48 and include preferential seating and a meet and greet with the comics after the show. Doors open at 7:00 p.m. and the show begins at 8:00 p.m.

The Traverse City Comedy Fest is returning in 2025 with new spring dates and one of the biggest names in comedy – Marc Maron – set to headline the festival weekend. The festival will take place April 10-12, 2025 in eight venues across Traverse City, including the Traverse City Comedy Club, City Opera House, Old Town Playhouse, Encore 201, The Workshop Brewing Company, The Alluvion, Hotel Indigo, and Park Place Hotel. Traverse City Tourism is the presenting sponsor for the festival.
Marc Maron will perform two shows at the festival on Saturday, April 12 at 6pm and 8:30pm at the City Opera House. Maron has released five hit stand-up comedy specials throughout his career. His most recent, “FROM BLEAK TO DARK” premiered on HBO February 11, 2023 and received rave reviews from critics and fans alike. Maron’s other specials include “END TIMES FUN” (2020) on Netflix, which was nominated for a 2021 Critics’ Choice Award, “MARC MARON: TOO REAL”(2017), MORE LATER” (2015) on Epix, and “THINKY PAIN” (2013).
Maron has an incredible reputation in the podcasting world through his landmark podcast “WTF with Marc Maron”. Launched in 2009, this interview-style podcast receives over 100 million listeners every year and has become a phenomenon in the podcasting space, with over 1400 episodes to date. Over the years, Marc has interviewed icons such as Keith Richards, Kate Winslet, and Robin Williams. Earlier this year, Maron’s show became the first one-on-one podcast episode (Episode 67- Robin Williams) inducted into America’s National Recording Registry.
Maron starred in the Netflix series “GLOW” and his scripted series, “MARON”, aired for four seasons on IFC. This past year, Maron also starred in the critically acclaimed feature film, TO LESLIE, starring Andrea Riseborough and Allison Janney. Some of Maron’s other acting credits include his roles in JOKER, RESPECT, the 2021 Aretha Franklin biopic which he starred in alongside Jennifer Hudson, SPENSER CONFIDENTIAL, SWORD OF TRUST, STARDUST. He also portrayed “Mr. Snake” in the Dreamworks animated feature, THE BAD GUYS, alongside Sam Rockwell, which premiered at #1 at the box office and “Lex Luthor” in DC LEAGUE OF SUPER-PETS, which released in July 2022, also at #1, alongside Dwayne Johnson, Keanu Reeves, and Kevin Hart.

The 2025 Traverse City Comedy Fest will feature dozens of other shows and events featuring acclaimed comedians from across Michigan and the U.S during the three-day festival. More headliners and programming will be announced in the coming weeks, with additional ticket sales to follow. In addition to new dates, the 2025 Traverse City Comedy Fest is transitioning to new leadership, with SamRose Entertainment assuming sole production of the event. Though no longer involved in the event’s production, the Downtown Traverse City Association remains a proud supporter of the Traverse City Comedy Fest.
